Torn Between Two Loves

From the comments section of the previous post, it looks as though Jon’s Yarn Widower booth at Rhinebeck next year would be crammed full of our disinterested Others. He decided he wanted a dart board in there, too. I think it would be good of there was a skein of yarn attached to the center to give them something they hated to aim at. Sometimes he looks at my knitting bag with such despair. Last night I was working on the second sleeve of his sweater and he was lolling around his side of the sofa, poking me with his feet and looking coy, almost coquettish. I finally said ‘What?! Is there something I can do for you? Something you need?” and he said “Acknowledge meeeeee!” Instantly, I felt guilty. Was my knitting getting in the way of our relationship? Was I purling a rift between us? Would I long for these lost moments with him on my death bed? I turned to him – my husband, my beloved partner with whom I share me very soul – and said “You exist, I see you.” and went back to the task at hand. Sleeves don’t knit themselves, you know.

whoa. that happens to me all the time. "cuddle me, talk to me, listen to me!!!" but honestly, yarn was here before he was and i'm pretty sure that if it came down to the wire yarn would win. better a hobby than a hubby... does this mean i have a problem? ;)

That's exactly what my husband does! He tugs at my needles or yarn, put his head in my lap, etc. Thankfully, his mom is the one that taught me to knit, so there's not much he can do about it. His mom is one strong lady! :-)

hehehe,

My boyfriend gives me the sad pouty puppy-dog face- it makes me feel oh so guilty!

Sometimes if he's in a huffy mood he'll just get up and go to his computer (which is like his knitting..)

Reason #462 Why I'm Not Married: nobody around to poke at me while I'm knitting. I'd be all "Bug off, Buddy! Acknowledge yourself." (And THAT may be reason #463.)

I use the mightily effective 'distraction' to get knitting accomplished. We watch a television program that he loves, something with lots of explosions and sweaty people waving guns, and I knit. He's so entranced he doesn't notice that you'd have to pour hot coffee in my lap to get my attention, and I get uninterrupted knitting time :) He has been complaining lately that my yarn purchases seem to be cutting into our entertainment budget though...

I'm with Danielle on this one, I knit and give the mister the remote and we couldn't be happier. With the haul I brought home today though, I wonder if he's starting to worry about this being a problem. I had a great time with you!! Must do it again soon!

I can't believe it! I was knitting on the couch last night, minding my own business when my man comes and lays down ON TOP of me. I'm mid row, working something that requires at least a passing attempt at attention, and I still have another 70 stitches to go. He starts watching TV so I attempt to contort myself to finish the row. He finally crieds out "Pay attention to me!" which made me laugh and think of this blog entry. I pleaded that he let me finish the row and I put my knitting down and gave him a big ol' hug. Boys are funny.
